Obverse description Effigy of Kavad II (Shiroye) facing right, depicted in profile with a distinctive mural crown surmounted by a frontal crescent and korymbos set upon a second crescent, with ribbons at the left shoulder and a crescent-and-ribbon device at the right. Stars flank the crown at either side, and the outer margin is decorated with a repeating series of star-in-crescent devices. The portrait is rendered in the refined late Sasanian court style, with characteristic linear detailing of the royal regalia.
