正面描述 Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, wearing the horn of Ammon curling behind his ear, his hair rendered in flowing, tightly wound locks characteristic of the Lysimachan coinage tradition. The portrait is boldly modeled in high relief with strong facial features and a fleshy neck, filling the field in the Hellenistic manner. No legend appears on the obverse.

背面描述 Athena Nikephoros seated left on a throne, wearing a crested helmet and chiton, her left arm resting on a large round shield set against her side, her right hand extending forward. She is rendered in a dynamic, semi-kneeling posture consistent with Lysimachan drachm reverse types adapted by Kalchedon. The ethnic legend ΚΑΛΧΑΔΟΝΙΩΝ is disposed in two lines flanking the figure, with additional control marks visible in the lower field.

附加信息

Kalchedon occupied a commanding position at the southern mouth of the Bosphorus, and its coins reflect that commercial confidence. Long after Lysimachus died at Corupedium in 281 BC, several cities continued striking in his name — his portrait carried enough monetary authority in the Black Sea trade networks to remain commercially useful for decades. This issue, produced a full generation after his death, is precisely that kind of posthumous coinage: politically convenient rather than commemorative in any formal sense.
