Obverse description Beardless head of Heracles facing right, identifiable by the Nemean lion scalp headdress draped over the skull, with the lion's muzzle prominently rendered at the crown and the paws knotted at the neck. The facial features are rendered in the refined Hellenistic style, with a strong profile, a slightly open mouth, and naturalistically modeled curling hair visible at the temple and nape. The flan is enclosed by a fine beaded border. The portrait conveys youthful heroic vigor consistent with the Lysippan artistic tradition associated with Alexander's official coinage.
