Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, shown beardless and in three-quarter profile, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp pulled over the crown; the lion's open jaws frame the forehead, with the forepaws knotted at the neck. The finely rendered facial features display the idealized Hellenistic style characteristic of Lysippan-influenced Alexander coinage. The hair is rendered in short, naturalistically engraved locks beneath the headdress. The entire design is set within a beaded border.
