Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, beardless, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The facial features are rendered in fine Hellenistic style with a dotted border encircling the flan. The mane and pelt of the lion skin are clearly articulated behind the head, conveying the divine heroic identity associated with Alexander III.
