Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, beardless, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The facial features are rendered in fine Hellenistic style with a dotted border encircling the flan. The mane and pelt of the lion skin are clearly articulated behind the head, conveying the divine heroic identity associated with Alexander III.

Reverse description Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low backless throne, his bare torso turned slightly forward; his outstretched right hand supports an eagle with closed wings, while his left hand grasps a tall sceptre. In the left field, a bucranium (ox-skull) serves as a mint control symbol; in the right field, a spearhead points upward as a secondary control mark. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs to the right of the enthroned figure, identifying the coin as issued in the name of Alexander.
