Obverse description Head of Heracles right, youthful and beardless, wearing the lion skin headdress in the Lysippan tradition; the lion's scalp rests over the crown of the head with the muzzle projecting above the forehead, while the knotted forepaws drape across the neck. The facial features are rendered with idealized Hellenistic naturalism, with fleshy cheeks, a well-defined brow, and curling locks framing the face. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, preserving good metal quality throughout the field.
