In his extended right hand he holds an eagle facing right, while his left hand grasps a long upright sceptre. In the left field, a control monogram appears; beneath the throne, a crescent serves as an additional control mark. The legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field in Greek characters, identifying this issue as struck in the name of Alexander III (the Great). |
