| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low backless throne (diphros), his body nude to the waist with drapery across the lower limbs. In his extended right hand he holds an eagle facing right, while his left hand grasps a long upright sceptre. In the left field, a control monogram appears; beneath the throne, a crescent serves as an additional control mark. The legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field in Greek characters, identifying this issue as struck in the name of Alexander III (the Great). |
