| Obverse description | Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless and wearing a lion skin headdress, with the scalp of the lion's muzzle drawn over the crown of the head and the paws knotted at the throat. The rendering is bold and high-relief, with carefully articulated facial features including a strong jaw, prominent nose, and deeply set eye, consistent with the refined Hellenistic die-cutting tradition of the Kolophon mint. The flowing mane of the lion skin falls behind the neck, while a beaded border frames the design. |
