The musculature of the lion's mane is depicted with detailed incuse lines, framing the hero's idealised facial features. The flan shows characteristic hammered irregularity at the periphery. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse field. |

His outstretched right hand holds an eagle, while his left hand rests on a tall sceptre. To the left field, a triskeles symbol — the civic badge of Chios — is prominently placed, with a small additional control symbol above it. The vertical legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander III. |
