| Obverse description | Head of Herakles in right profile, wearing the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress, the jaws framing the top of the head and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The facial features are rendered with fine Hellenistic detail, presenting a youthful, idealized effigy with curling hair visible beneath the lion skin. The flan is irregularly shaped, as typical of hammered coinage of this period, with the design well-centered. No legend appears on the obverse. |

| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros seated facing left on a throne, his upper body bare, himation draped over his lower limbs and legs. He extends his right arm forward, upon which a large eagle with closed wings perches, while his left hand rests on a long scepter. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field. Mint control symbols are visible in the left field and below the throne, as characteristic of the Abydos mint issues catalogued under Price 1545. |
