Obverse description Youthful bare head of the deified Heracles facing right, depicted beardless with idealized features, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress, the beast's jaws framing the upper cranium and the pelt falling behind the neck. The finely modeled facial relief displays naturalistic musculature and wavy hair escaping beneath the lion skin at the temple. The die engraving reflects the high-quality Hellenistic style characteristic of the Abydos mint during the post-Alexander posthumous coinage period.
