Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp tied beneath the chin, the jaws of the lion framing the hero's face; rendered in fine Hellenistic style with carefully detailed curling hair visible at the temple and nape. The portrait is boldly struck in high relief, filling the flan, with the furrowed lion skin distinctly articulated across the skull and knotted below the throat.
