Obverse description Youthful, beardless head of Herakles facing right, clad in the Nemean lion-skin headdress, the scalp drawn over the crown and the gaping jaws framing the face; fine curling locks of hair escape beneath the pelt at the nape of the neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief with confident, naturalistic modelling characteristic of the Alexandrine die-cutting tradition. A border of dots frames the field.
