| Obverse description | Facing right, the youthful bare head of Heracles depicted without beard, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the creature's jaws framing the hero's crown and the paws knotted at the neck. The portrait is rendered in the Lysippan tradition, with finely modelled curling locks cascading beneath the lion-skin headdress. The flan is irregular, with a broad, slightly convex field typical of posthumous Alexandrine coinage struck at Chios. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse. |
