Aanvullende informatie

Hormizd II ruled for roughly six years before being killed — according to later sources — by Arab tribesmen, a death that triggered one of the more turbulent successions in Sasanian history. His infant son Shapur II was reportedly crowned while still in the womb, with nobles placing a diadem on his mother's abdomen. The coinage of Hormizd II is consequently scarce; six years produced far fewer dies than the multi-decade reigns that bookended his.
