Reverse description A fire altar is depicted centrally in the field, with a royal bust emerging from the flames above the altar table, a common Sasanian reverse motif symbolizing Zoroastrian piety. To the left of the altar stands Hormizd II, facing front with head turned to the right, crowned and clad in royal robes, holding a barsom bundle in his left hand. To the right stands an attendant, also facing front with head turned to the left, wearing a mural crown and holding a barsom bundle in his right hand. A Pahlavi legend is inscribed in the field identifying the sacred fire. The composition reflects the deeply Zoroastrian character of Sasanian royal iconography, emphasizing the divine sanction of kingship through the fire cult.
