| Obverse description | Crowned and cuirassed bust of Hormizd IV facing right, rendered in the characteristic Sasanian profile style. The royal crown is surmounted by a crescent and flanked by stars, with a ribbon arching over the right shoulder and a crescent and ribbon over the left. The Pahlavi legend 'Apzut' (meaning 'Ever prosperous') appears to the left of the effigy in Inscriptional Pahlavi script. The portrait displays the king's distinctive regalia, emphasizing divine legitimacy and royal authority consistent with late Sasanian numismatic convention. |
