| Obverse description | Draped bust of Hormizd II facing right, wearing an elaborate eagle crown surmounted by a globular korymbos. The king is depicted with a full beard rendered in careful detail, and wears a prominent beaded necklace and earring. Inscriptional Pahlavi legends encircle the effigy within a beaded border. The portrait displays the characteristic high-relief, stylised artistry typical of early Sasanian coinage. |
