| Obverse description | Griffin seated to the right in the archaic style, with large outstretched wings rising prominently above its leonine body, forelegs extended forward and tail curling upward. The creature's head is turned slightly, with detailed feathering rendered in fine relief. The magistrate's name ΗΓΗΣΙΠ appears in Greek letters along the left field, reading downward. The design is set within a plain circular border with characteristic irregularity typical of hammered coinage from Abdera in the early Classical period. |

| Reverse description | Quadripartite incuse square divided into four equal recessed compartments by a raised cross, each compartment exhibiting a smooth, slightly concave surface. This standard incuse reverse type is characteristic of early coinage from Abdera and reflects the broad use of the mill-sail or windmill incuse pattern common to Thracian and northern Aegean minting traditions of the late Archaic period. The square is centered within a plain, slightly irregular flan. |
