| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, depicted with his characteristic full beard, rendered in high relief. The effigy shows the paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder over the cuirass, with folds of drapery visible at the lower bust. A Greek circular legend surrounds the portrait, reading from the lower left upward and continuing around the field. The portrait exhibits the confident, naturalistic style typical of Alexandrian provincial coinage of the Hadrianic period. |

| Reverse description | A sphinx, adorned with a composite crown of solar disc, cow horns and feathers — emblematic of Egyptian religious iconography — strides to the left. From the chest of the sphinx emerges a crocodile, a distinctly Nilotic motif. The sphinx treads upon a serpent below, while above the creature a griffin is depicted in the field. This elaborate reverse composition blends Greco-Roman and Egyptian mythological imagery, characteristic of the Alexandrian mint's syncretic artistic tradition under Hadrian. |
