正面描述	Youthful diademed male head facing left, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with detailed wavy hair swept back beneath a plain diadem. The facial features are delicately modelled, exhibiting the idealized portrait conventions characteristic of late Syracusan coinage. The neck is cleanly truncated, and the portrait fills the flan with confident, high-relief engraving.

附加信息	Gelon II was the son of Hiero II and held nominal co-regency in Syracuse during the final years before the city's catastrophic entanglement in the Second Punic War. He died in 216 BC, almost certainly by poison, before the crisis fully matured — leaving his young son Hieronymus to inherit the throne and, within months, defect to Hannibal following Rome's disaster at Cannae. This drachm belongs to the narrow window of that co-regency, struck while Syracuse still maintained its cautious neutrality between Carthage and Rome.
