Obverse description Sphinx seated to right in three-quarter profile, depicted with finely rendered leonine body, folded wings rising behind, and a human head facing right; a dotted border frames the perimeter of the flan. A small bunch of grapes appears to the left of the sphinx in the field, serving as a civic symbol of Chios. The artistic style is characteristic of Hellenistic engraving, with careful attention to musculature and feather detail.

Reverse description A tall, narrow amphora with pointed base is depicted centrally, rendered in fine relief with flanged handles; to the left, the magistrate's name ΔΩΡΟΘΕΟΣ is inscribed vertically in the field, while ΧΙΟΣ appears to the upper right. The design is enclosed within a wreath of vine leaves and bunches of grapes, a hallmark of Chian coinage. The overall composition is characteristic of the later Hellenistic issues of Chios, combining civic and personal identification.
