| Reverse description | A sea-eagle with broadly spread wings perches upon a dolphin swimming to the left, a composition emblematic of Sinopean civic coinage. The eagle is rendered in high relief with detailed feathering across the wings, back, and breast, its talons gripping the dorsal surface of the dolphin. The magistrate's name ΔΙΟΥ appears in the upper field divided to either side of the eagle, while the ethnic ΣΙΝΩ is inscribed in the lower field beneath the dolphin. The design is bold and well-executed within the circular flan, reflecting the high artistic standards of Sinope's mint during the late Classical period. |
