Obverse description Marsyas depicted standing to the left, a wineskin raised over his right shoulder in the characteristic pose associated with this colonial type. The colonial abbreviation COL is divided across the field, flanking the figure on either side, referencing the Roman colonial status of Berytus. The style is typical of provincial bronze coinage of the Trajanic period, with a compact, slightly crude rendering consistent with local mint production.
