Obverse description Diademed bust of Artabanus II facing left, wearing a distinctive tiara adorned with horizontal ribbing and a hook-shaped ear ornament with scrolled detail. Long, finely striated hair falls in waves behind the neck, and a short beard is rendered with linear incisions. The king is draped, with the drapery indicated at the truncation. The entire design is enclosed within a raised dotted border.

He holds a strung bow in his right hand, the bow extending toward his knee, serving as the emblematic symbol of Arsacid dynastic authority. A monogram appears in the field below the bow. The surrounding Greek legend, arranged in two concentric arcs, records the full royal titulature of the issuing king.
