| Obverse description | The enthroned deity Baal of Gaziura is depicted seated to the left with his torso presented in a frontal orientation, rendered in a style reflecting strong Persian artistic influence. In his extended right hand he holds a bunch of grapes, a grain ear, and an eagle, emblems of fertility and divine authority, while his left hand grasps a lotus-tipped scepter. The Aramaic inscription B'L GZYR (meaning 'Baal of Gaziura') appears to the right of the figure in the field. |
