| Obverse description | Right-facing royal bust of Ardashir III wearing a distinctive winged crown surmounted by a globe, with a crescent and short ribbon at the rear; the diadem is composed of two rows of beads. The king is depicted with a curled beard, earring, and a beaded necklace with three pendants; a 'royal ribbon' issues above the shoulder. Stars-and-crescents appear on and beneath the shoulders, and three additional stars-and-crescents are symmetrically distributed in the field. A star-and-crescent device appears to the right of the crown. Pahlavi legend surrounding the portrait. |
