| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bust of Ardashir I facing right, draped and bearded, with long curled hair falling in distinctive globular locks onto the shoulder. The king wears a mural crown (corona muralis) surmounted by a korymbos — a large spherical hair bundle wrapped in a diadem — characteristic of Ardashir I's Type IV coinage. A circular Pahlavi legend runs around the effigy within a beaded border, proclaiming the king's royal titulature and divine legitimacy. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the bold, idealized style characteristic of early Sasanian court art. |
