Obverse description Diademed bust of Ardashir I facing right, wearing a close-fitting headdress surmounted by a korymbos (hair globe) without earflaps, secured by a diadem of Type G. The portrait is rendered in the distinctive early Sasanian style, with bold relief and controlled engraving characteristic of the royal mint. Inscriptional Pahlavi legend surrounds the effigy within the field.
