| 表面の説明 | Youthful bare head of the hero Heracles facing right, depicted without beard, wearing the Nemean lion-skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted beneath the chin. The facial features are rendered in fine Hellenistic style, with strong modelling of the cheek, brow, and chin. The lion's mane is elaborately articulated around the periphery of the flan, filling the field to the left. |

Struck at Sardis, the former Lydian capital that Alexander captured in 334 BC without a siege — the garrison surrendered almost immediately, handing him one of the wealthiest treasury cities in the ancient world. The mint there was put to work almost at once, financing the ongoing campaign rather than shipping bullion east. Price 2576 falls within the early Sardis issues, produced when the conquest of Persia was still very much in progress rather than a foregone conclusion.
