| Obverse description | Youthful bare head of Heracles in right-facing profile, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp drawn tightly over the crown with the beast's jaw and forepaws visible at the forehead and nape. The facial features are rendered in the idealized Lysippan style associated with Alexander III, displaying a strong straight nose, slightly parted lips, and a prominent chin. The flowing mane of the lion skin falls behind the neck, its striated folds rendered with confident die-cutting. The portrait fills the flan with commanding presence, consistent with the high-relief engraving characteristic of the Amphipolis mint. |
