Obverse description Draped bust of the city nymph Sinope facing left, her hair bound in a sakkos decorated with a dotted border at the nape; a pendant drop earring adorns her ear. An aphlastron (stern ornament), rendered with fine linear detail, appears in the left field. The portrait is executed in the refined late Classical style, with delicate facial features and carefully articulated drapery at the truncation.

Reverse description A sea-eagle, rendered with finely detailed feathering and scales, perches atop a dolphin swimming left; the eagle's wings are spread and its hooked beak is turned downward toward the dolphin's body. The magistrate's name ΦΑΓΕΤΑ appears in the field beneath the eagle's wings to the right. The ethnic ΣΙΝΩ is inscribed in large Greek letters along the lower exergual line, identifying the issuing city of Sinope.
