Obverse description Facing head of Silenos rendered in high relief, occupying nearly the full field within a beaded border. The satyr is depicted as bald with a broad, wrinkled brow, prominent pointed ears, and a long, full beard with deeply incised striations conveying individual locks. The treatment is boldly sculptural, characteristic of the finest Sicilian engraving of the late fifth century BC.
