The bee, sacred symbol of Ephesos and emblem of its famous sanctuary of Artemis, is rendered in a stylized yet naturalistic archaic Greek manner characteristic of the early Classical period. |

The surface within the quadrants is uneven and unadorned, reflecting the primitive punch-and-anvil method of manufacture standard for this issue. |
