Reverse description The hero Herakles depicted in three-quarter kneeling pose to the right, clad in the Nemean lion skin draped over his back and shoulders, drawing his strung bow in a dynamic archer's stance. The figure is enclosed within a linear square border that frames the design. The ethnic legend ΘΑΣΙΟΝ is disposed around the field outside or within the square border, identifying the issuing city of Thasos. A pomegranate appears to the right of the figure as a subsidiary symbol. The reverse composition follows the established Thasian iconographic tradition linking the city's divine patron Dionysus on the obverse with the heroic archetype Herakles on the reverse.
