| Reverse description | Forepart of a boar's head facing right, depicted in strong relief with pronounced snout, eye, and bristled mane rendered in fine detail. The design is set within a dotted or beaded square border, itself contained within a recessed incuse square, a hallmark of early Greek coinage technique. The ethnic legend ΛVTTIΘN (reading LYTTIO[N], genitive plural denoting the people of Lyttos) is distributed around the inner square border. The combination of the beaded square and incuse square frame is typical of Cretan drachms of this period. |
