| Descrizione del dritto | Head of the nymph Larissa facing three-quarters left, rendered in the fine early Classical style characteristic of Thessalian coinage of the period. Her hair is elaborately dressed in thick, flowing waves bound at the crown and cascading freely behind, a hallmark of the skilled die-cutters active at Larissa in this era. She wears a pendant earring with a decorative drop element and a beaded necklace visible at the base of the neck. The portrait is set within a dotted border, occupying nearly the full flan, with no legend on this side. The modelling of the facial features is of exceptional quality, displaying the idealised naturalism associated with the finest Greek coinage of the early fourth century BC. |
