Obverse description Land tortoise depicted in high relief, viewed from above, with a finely detailed segmented carapace rendered in a naturalistic style characteristic of the later Aeginetan series. The creature is shown with head, legs, and tail visible at the periphery, the domed shell dominating the design. The Greek letters A and I appear in the left and right fields respectively, serving as an abbreviated ethnic for AIΓINA. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, as typical of hammered coinage of this period.
