| Beschrijving keerzijde | A double-headed axe (labrys), the iconic symbol of Tenedos, dominates the central field. To the lower left, a cornucopia (horn of plenty) is depicted; to the lower right, a bunch of grapes hangs in the field. The entire design is enclosed within a laurel wreath, whose tied ends appear at the base. The ethnic legend ΤΕΝΕΔΙΩΝ is inscribed within the wreath, identifying the issuing civic authority. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Tenedos sat at the mouth of the Hellespont and collected tolls from every vessel passing between the Aegean and the Black Sea — one of the most strategically lucrative positions in the ancient Mediterranean. By the time this drachm was struck, the island had passed through Athenian, Persian, and Macedonian hands before settling into the Roman provincial orbit, though it retained enough autonomy to maintain its own silver coinage. The Callataÿ reference gap suggests this specific die pairing remains unregistered in the standard corpus, making precise attribution tentative.
