The musculature of the horse is rendered with considerable skill, characteristic of the accomplished die-cutters working in Thessaly during the late fifth century BC. The ethnic legend ΛΑΡΙ-ΣΑΙ-Α appears in Greek characters distributed around the field, identifying the issuing city of Larissa.
