| Obverse description | Bare head of Zeus facing right, rendered in archaic Cretan style with finely detailed curling hair arranged in short locks around the forehead and temples, crowned with a laurel wreath. The portrait is boldly modelled in high relief against a plain, unadorned field. The features are strong and well-defined, characteristic of early Hellenistic western Cretan coinage. |
