| Obverse description | Facing bucranium (bull's head en face) rendered in bold relief, with prominent curved horns and finely detailed muzzle, occupying the central field. The design is surrounded by a radiate or dotted border, with the ethnic legend distributed around the periphery in Greek characters. The bold, frontal presentation of the bucranium is characteristic of the archaic-to-early Hellenistic civic coinage of Polyrhenion in western Crete, conveying civic and religious symbolism associated with sacrificial cult practice. |
