Beschrijving voorzijde Helmeted head of Athena facing left, depicted in high relief with bold archaic modeling. The goddess wears a crested Attic helmet with a prominent bowl and raised cheekguards, the crest rendered in fine detail above the brow. The facial features are rendered in the severe late archaic style characteristic of Lesbian coinage of the fifth century BC, with a strong profile, defined eye, and firm jaw. The neck is truncated cleanly, and the field around the bust is plain and unlettered.

Beschrijving keerzijde A kantharos (two-handled drinking cup) displayed prominently in the center of a pelleted square border, flanked by the city's ethnic initials arranged around the vessel. The entire design is set within a shallow incuse square, a technique typical of early Greek silver coinage. The letters M, Θ, and A are distributed around the kantharos and read counter-clockwise, serving as an abbreviated ethnic for Methymna (also spelled Mithymna). The incuse square creates a recessed frame that contrasts with the raised central device, a hallmark of archaic Greek hammered coinage.
