| Obverse description | A horse walking to the left in profile, head lowered as if grazing, rendered in archaic relief with strong naturalistic detail. The body of the animal is well-modelled, with a flowing tail and distinct musculature characteristic of early Thessalian coinage. A dotted exergual line runs beneath the horse, and a beaded border encircles the entire field. The composition reflects the celebrated horse-breeding tradition of the Thessalian plain, a recurring and prestigious motif on Larissaean issues of this period. |
