Drachm

Kibyra was one of the most powerful cities in southwestern Phrygia, controlling a tetrapolis that dominated regional trade routes between the Aegean coast and the Anatolian interior. The city's coinage in this period reflects its unusual political position — nominally within Rome's sphere after the settlement of 188 BC, yet functionally autonomous until Murena's campaigns forced its full submission during the First Mithridatic War. The drachm series spans that entire uneasy interval.

The weight standard followed here is a reduced Rhodian drachm, consistent with Kibyran commercial ties to Rhodes throughout the second century.
