Reverse description An eagle depicted in flight to right with wings fully spread, its talons firmly grasping a serpent which it is shown actively devouring, a motif emblematic of Euboian civic coinage. To the right of the principal device stands a kerykeion (caduceus), serving as a secondary symbol. The ethnic inscription XAΛ appears to the right, identifying the issuing city of Chalkis. The composition is dynamic and well-executed within the hammered flan.
