Drachm

Bargylia was a small coastal city in Caria, modern southwest Turkey, whose coinage history reflects its shifting allegiances under Macedonian, Seleucid, and eventually Roman influence. The city gained a degree of autonomy following the Roman reorganization of Asia Minor after Apamea in 188 BC, which likely accounts for the broad two-century attribution window assigned to this type. SNG von Aulock 8074 places it within a well-documented but sparsely represented series — Bargylian silver in any form is genuinely scarce in modern collections.
