| Beschrijving keerzijde | A quadripartite incuse square divides the reverse into four triangular quarters, two opposing quarters being raised and filled with a granular or hatched texture, while the remaining two quarters are recessed and left comparatively plain. Within one of the unfilled quarters appears the Greek letter Gamma (Γ), or possibly Lambda (Λ), accompanied by a small pellet, likely representing a magistrate's initial or mint control mark. The opposing unfilled quarter contains a single pellet. This incuse square design is characteristic of early Greek silver coinage of the Pontic region and reflects the windmill or pinwheel incuse tradition of the late fifth century BC. |
