Adramyttion — the coastal Mysian city on the Gulf of Adramyttion — came under Roman provincial administration following the bequest of the Attalid kingdom to Rome in 133 BC, which is precisely why this issue's date range opens where it does. These civic drachms were struck as the city navigated the transition from Pergamene to Roman oversight, a period when many Mysian mints briefly flourished issuing small silver before Roman monetary policy gradually crowded out local coinage.
